1979-1984 :
Mark Howe scored on his first shot as a FlyerNovember 7, 1979 -- In the first ever meeting, the Flyers prevailed 4-3 in Quebec. Down 2-0 in the second period, Philly netted three consecutive goals to take a 3-2 lead into the third. Bob Kelly's second goal of the game added to that lead. The Flyers had 42 shots and Michel Dion made 38 saves in the loss.
December 13, 1979 -- In the first ever meeting in Philadelphia, the Flyers rallied with five third period goals en route to a 6-4 victory and extended their unbeaten streak to 25 games. The game was tied 1-1 after two periods, then Quebec scored twice in the third to take a 3-1 lead with just over nine minutes to play. The Flyers then scored the next four goals including Bill Barber's tying goal with 7:18 to play and Reggie Leach's go-ahead with 1:51 to play, the second goal of the game for each player. Barber and Kenny Linseman each had three points in the third period rally. The teams combined to score the last four goals in a span of 69 seconds.
March 27, 1 980 -- Brian Propp (2-1-3) scored twice and had three points in a span of 3:08 as the Flyers won 5-2 in the Spectrum. Bobby Clarke (1-2-3) also had three points. Jack McIlhargey bloodied Paul Stewart (later, an NHL official) in a fight.
April 1, 1980 -- Phil Myre made 3 7 saves in the Flyers' 3-3 tie at Qu ebec. Ken Linseman's wrist shot beat Goran Hogosta to tie the game. Reggie Leach scored his 47th goal while Real Cloutier scored twice for the Nordiques, including his 40th of the season.
August 11, 1980 -- John Paddock was sent to Quebec in return for an undisclosed cash total.
September 15, 1980 -- Andre Dupont was traded to Quebec for cash and a 7th round draft choice.
November 1, 1980 -- Down 2-0 in the third, the Flyers recorded the next three goals including two by Bill Barber in a games that ended tied 3-3 in Quebec. The Flyers three goals came in a span of 7:18. Jaime Hislop got the tying goal for the Nordiques.
November 9, 1980 -- Pete Peeters made 26 saves and the Flyers clicked twice in the third period in a 3-1 victory. Tom Gorence scored the GWG 35 seconds into the final period while Bill Barber added an insurance goal on a 5-on-3. Moose Dupont returned to Philadelphia for the first time since his trade.
January 15, 1981 -- Michel Plasse stopped all 18 3rd period shots in Quebec's 4-1 win in Philadelphia. It was the Nordiques first win in this series. The Nords led 2-1 after two and scored twice on six shots in the final period.
February 7, 1981 -- Daniel Bouchard made 28 saves in the Nordiques' 5-3 home win. Anton Stastny scored two of Quebec's four PPGs. The Nords led 1-0 41 seconds into the game when Robbie Ftorek stripped Blake Wesley of the puck and beat Rick St.=2 0Croix. At the end of the second period, there was a fight between Brian Propp and Alain Cote.
April 8, 1981 -- In Game 1 of their Preliminary Round Series, the Flyers faced a streaking Quebec team that had lost just five of its last 29 games while Philly was just 4-5-5 in the last 14. In this game, though, the home team dominated with a 6-4 win and a 45-20 shot advantage, including 15-3 in the decisive third period. Paul Holmgren's goal 1:41 into the third period snapped a 3-3 tie, Al Hill followed midway through and after Quebec narrowed the score to 6-5 with a PPG at 17:55, the Flyers clinched the win with an ENG. Philly led 3-1 after one but the score was tied 3-3 after two. Brian Propp (2-1-3), Ken Linseman (0-3-3) and Bill Barber (2-0-2) led the winners. The Nords were led by Dan Bouchard's 39 saves and Anton Stastny (2-1-3), Peter Stastny (0-3-3) and Michel Goulet (1-2-3). Rick St. Croix tended goal for the Flyers.
April 9, 1981 -- In Game 2 in Philly, the Flyers beat Quebec 8-5 led by Bill Barber's hat trick and three points from Mel Bridgman (2-1-3) and Al Hill (0-3-3). Barber scored twice in the first and Philly led 3-1. In the second, Barber completed his hat trick and each team scored twice. After Ken Linseman scored, the Nords tallied a pair and cut the gap to 6-5 with 6:35 to play but Bridgman scored and Bobby Clarke added an ENG. For the second straight game, many penalties were distributed near the conclusion. Dan Bouchard was replaced by Michel Plasse after surrendering six goals. Pete Peeters started for the Flyers.
April 11, 1981 -- In Game 3 at Quebec, Dan Bouchard made 32 saves, Michel Goulet (1-1-2, 8 shots) scored near the 50 minute mark to snap a scoreless tie and Peter Stastny (1-1-2) added an insurance goal with under three minutes to play in Quebec's 2-0 win. Twenty seconds after the Nordiques went up 2-0, Goulet and Stastny received fighting majors for battles with Kenny Linseman and Paul Holmgren. Pete Peeters made 29 saves for the Flyers in the defeat.
April 12, 1981 -- In Game 4 at Quebec, Terry Murray's shot off the opening faceoff was misplayed by goalie Dan Bouchard and seven seconds into the contest the Flyers led 1-0. The lead increased to 3-1 after one period and Philly appeared to be on the verge of eliminating Quebec from the best-of-five series until Dale Hunter and Jacques Richard scored 93 seconds apart -- the first goal coming on Quebec's first shot of the third period and the second goal coming with 2:52 to play in regulation. Hunter then scored, again, 37 seconds into OT to send the series back to Philadelphia for the decisive fifth game. The goalies for this game were Rick St. Croix and Dan Bouchard.
April 14, 1981 -- In Game 5 at Philly, the Flyers eliminated Quebec with a 5-2 victory in the decisive game of this Best-of-Five series. Philly scored three third period goals in the first 5:07 with Ken Linseman starting the barrage just 18 seconds into the period. The line of Linseman (1-2-3 ), Paul Holmgren (1-1-2) and Brian Pr oipp (1-1-2) accounted for eight of nine points in the explosive beginning to the final period. Philly shelled Quebec 19-4 in shots in the first period but Dan Bouchard was stellar and the game was tied 1-1 after 20 minutes; Rick MacLeish scored late but the Nords got a goal eight seconds later. Al Hill scored 10 minutes into the middle period to give Philly a 2-1 lead. Then came the third period eruption. Quebec had just 18 shots despite six PPs to the Flyers two PPs but the defining element to the game was the lack of forechecking by the Nordiques and how the Flyers controlled the puck throughout the contest. Goalies: Pete Peeters (16 saves) faced and Bouchard (32 saves). Reggie Leach (0-0-0), who was benched for Game 4, and Bobby Clarke combined for one point in the 5-game series, while Rick MacLeish had just two points (1-1-2) and Bill Barber was scoreless in the final three games after five goals (5-0-5) in the first two contests.
October 22, 1981 -- The Flyers shelled goalie Michel Plasse with 18 first period shots and three goals en route to a 3-2 home victory. Ilkka Sinisalo had a pair of assists. Marian Stastny had both Quebec goals.
January 19, 1982 -- Brian Propp's PPG with under eight to play gave Philly a 2-2 road tie. Rick St. Croix and Dan Bouchard both played excellent with St. Croix making many point blank saves. Bobby Clarke suffered a broken left foot and missed the next 18 games. The next day , the Flyers completed a deal with Toronto for Darryl Sittler.
February 6, 1982 -- The slumping Flyers lost 4-3 in Quebec. This was the last game of a 9-game winless (0-5-4) skid for Philadelphia.
October 7, 1982 -- The Flyers won a wild season-opener 9-5 in the Spectrum. The Flyers scored the last four goals of the game in a span of 2:06 to win 9-5 in Philly, the GWG coming with 10:52 to play via a Brian Propp PPG. Seventeen of the 18 Flyers' non-goalies had at least one point (Tom Gorence, the exception). The Flyers were led by Dave Michayluk (2-0-2, in his second career game), who scored the only two goals in his 14-game NHL career, Ray Allison (1-3-4), Bill Barber (2-1-3) and Bobby Clarke (0-3-3). Mark Howe scored on his first shot as a Flyer to make it 3-2 in the second period.
October 16, 1982 -- Bobby Clarke scored twice in the Flyers' 4-3 road win. The Flyers trailed 2-0 after one period on two goals by Real Cloutier. The Flyers then scored the next four including two goals by Clarke in the opening minutes of the second and third periods. Philly outshot Quebec 38-22.
Decem ber 9, 1982 -- Ron Flockhart scored twice in the Flyers 4-1 home win. Paul Holmgren added a goal and an assist. The Flyers outshot Quebec 38-28.
October 25, 1983 -- The Flyers (17) and Nords (20) combined for 37 shots but Philly won 4-2 in Quebec. Bobby Clarke was named top s tar of the game, much of it due20to his defensive work. Rich Sutter scored in his second consecutive game as a Flyers after being acquired in a trade.
October 27, 1983 -- Dave Poulin's SHG with 5:16 to play helped to lift the Flyers to an eventual 4-3 home win. The goal gave the Flyers a 4-2 lead but Tony McKegney scored 13 seconds later to make it 4-3. Rich Sutter scored a goal, his third in three games as a Flyer. Rick MacLeish had two assists.
January 14, 1984 -- Brian Propp tied the game with 1:59 to play in a game that ended in a 3-3 tie in Quebec. Bob Froese made 36 saves for the Flyers. Each of the three Stastny's had two points. Dave Poulin and Miroslav Dvorak each had two assists. Thomas Eriksson scored with 45 seconds left in the second period to cut Quebec's leads to one goal.
December 6, 1984 -- Bruce Bell scored a first period PPG then Tim Kerr matched him in the second period in a game that finished 1-1 in the Spectrum. Dan Bouchard (38 saves) and Pelle Lindbergh (31 saves) were the goaltenders. The three Stastnys were held to a combined four shots and Peter Zezel was a large reason.
1985-1989:

February 14, 1985 -- Tim Kerr (2-1-3) and Brian Propp (1-3-4) led the Flyers to a 6-3 victory in the Spect rum. Ron Sutter scored the first of three straight goals that gave the Flyers a 5-2 lead. Kerr (9) and Propp (6) combined for 15 shots. All three Nords goals came via the PP.
March 2, 1985 -- Paul Gillis scored twice to lead the Nordiques to a 4-2 home win. The Flyers were 6-0-2 in the prior eight games against Quebec.
May 5, 1985 -- In Game One of the Wales Conference Finals at Quebec,despite sensational goaltending from Pelle Lindbergh, who made 42 saves, the Flyers dropped a 2-1 decision when Peter Stastny scored on a 55-footer 6:20 into OT, his second straight OT GWG. Quebec and Philly swapped third period goals, the Flyers' goal credited to Brad McCrimmon when the Nords' Pat Price redeflected a shot into his own net. Mario Gosselin had 28 saves in the victory. While Dave Poulin returned to the lineup after missing all the NYI series and most of the first round matchup against the Rangers with a ligament tear in his left knee, the Flyers' Tim Kerr suffered a strained right knee and was lost for the balance of this series. Quebec advanced to the Conference Finals against the Flyers by defeating Montreal in Game 7 on a Stastny goal. The Nords, despite having 22 fewer regular season points (91-113), had the home ice advantage since=2 0the Adams Division had more wins in head-to-head competition against the Patrick in the regular season (playoff format at the time).
May 7, 1985 -- In Game 2 at Quebec, the Flyers' play ed an impressive game of forechecking and team defense in defeating the Nordiques 4-2. Dave Poulin scored a SHG in the first period and the Flyers added two goals in the second for 3-0 lead after two periods. Joe Paterson added the fourth goal, which gave Philly a 4-1 lead; Paterson failed to score a regular season goal for the Flyers in 11 career games. Poulin suffered cracked ribs after Mario Marois did some stick-work on the Flyers' captain and also a knee injury.
May 9, 1985 -- In Game 3 at Philadelphia, Joe Paterson played the role of hero (1-2-3) in the Flyers' 4-2 win. Paterson tied the game 2-2 in the second period and then assisted on the PP GWG by Ilkka Sinisalo. The Flyers added another PP, they went 3-for-6. For the third straight game, the Flyers suffered a key injury: Brad McCrimmon was driven from behind by Wilf Paiement and lost for the rest of the POs, including the Stanley Cup Finals, with a separated left shoulder that required surgery. The Flyers dressed five d-men in the game; Ed Hospodar picked up extra minutes as did Brad Marsh whose shot-blocking skills were on display in the contest.
May 12, 1985 -- In Game 4 at Philadelphia, Mario Gosselin made 34 saves and the Nords recovered for a 5-3 victory to even the series. It was the Flyers' first home loss in 21 games and first since February 2. Dale Hunter scored on a 60-footer. Alain Cote scored 4:32 into th e third period for the GWG and=2 0Brad Maxwell added a PPG to conclude the scoring. The Flyers trailed 2-0 and 3-1 but tied the score in the third period. Philly went 3-for-5 on the PP. In the two home games, they scored seven goals total and went 6-for-11 on the PP. The Flyers were without Tim Kerr, Dave Poulin and Brad McCrimmon.
May 14, 1985 -- In Game 5 at Quebec, the Flyers overcame a 1-0 third period deficit and Pelle Lindbergh (30 saves) bounced back from a shaky Game 4 in a dramatic 2-1 win . Joe Paterson recorded his third goal of the series (his only three in his Flyers' career) 1:00 into the third and then Murray Craven scored with under five minutes left in. Craven's goal was the result of a perfect 2-on-1 play off a feed from Brian Propp. In between the second and third periods, head coach Mike Keenan trashed a table of beverages and then stood atop challenging his players to come alive for the third period. Paterson and Craven were the two players GM Bob Clarke acquired for Darryl Sittler just prior to the season opener. Dave Poulin added inspiration when he returned with a flak jacket despite broken ribs. With 2:10 to play, Quebec had a goal disallowed by ref Kerry Fraser who ruled Peter Stastny kicked the puck into the net. After the game, Quebec head coach Michel Bergeron showed various video clips to a group of about 50 reporters saying that the Nordiques were being unfairly treated by the refs. Bergeron was docked $5,000 for the com ments.
May 16, 1985 -- In Game 6 in Philly, the Flyers ousted Quebec 3-0 and advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals to face Edmonton. The Flyers led 1-0 after the first period but faced a major challenge at the 1:08 mark of the second period. Joe Paterson (0:31) and Brian Propp (1:08) were in the box due to separate minors putting the Flyers down by two men; Dave Poulin, wearing a flak jacket to protect broken ribs, then intercepted a blue-line pass from Mario Marois and skated th e length of the ice for a breakaway goal (at 2:01) that will forever be one of the most exhilarating plays in team history. Later in the second, Doug Crossman added a PPG. Pelle Lindbergh stopped 15 shots for the shutout. Mario Gosselin, in the loss, made 33 saves. Pat Price of Quebec said "They executed to perfection. They won every inch of the ice. I know my face was up against the glass all night."

Sevigny turned aside 19 of 20 shots in the first period. Murray Craven gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead 18 seconds after Dave Brown and Jimmy Mann fought. The Flyers outshot Quebec 9-1 in the second period but Kumpel scored on Quebec's lone shot and that goal proved to be the GWG. In the third period, the Flyers outshot the Nordiques 14-2 for a total of 23-3 in the last two periods. Pelle Lindbergh faced just 14 shots on goal. Kumpel and Mario Marios combined for four points and six shots.
November 2, 1985 -- The Flyers erupted for four first period goals in a span of 7:39 and hung on for a 5-3 win in Quebec. Ilkka Sinisalo (two first period goa ls) and Lindsay Carson each scored twice. Philly led 4-0 into the third period but the Nordiques cut the deficit in half before Carson gave Philly a 5-2 lead. Pelle Lindbergh made 22 saves for the victory.
February 1, 1986 -- Brent Ashton and John Anderson of the Nordiques scored midway in the third period and the game ended in a 2-2 draw in Quebec. Philly got a pair of goals in the second period. Rick Tocchet cut Claude Julien in a fight.
October 30, 1986 -- Ron Hextall made 33 saves and the Flyers had a 3-0 lead 14 minutes in to the game won 6-3 in Philly. Down 4-1 as the third started, the Nords mounted a furious comeback try by outshooting the Flyers 17-2 but Hextall secured the win. Brian Propp (1-2-3) led the Flyers offense.
March 21, 1987 -- Doug Crossman's PPG with 2:06 to play gave the Flyers a 2-2 tie in Quebec. Chico Resch made 34 saves for the Flyers. Each team scored in the second and third periods. Lane Lambert gave Quebec a 2-1 lead.
March 26, 1987 -- Dave Poulin scored in OT to lift the Flyers to a 3-2 home win. Michel Goulet scored both Quebe c goals, giving him 45 at that point. Tim Kerr, who assisted on the OT winner, scored his 55th for the Flyers.
November 28, 1987 -- The Flyers scored four unanswered goals in a span of 6:30 in the second period en route to a 6-3 victory in Quebec. Leading 4-3 in th e third, the Flyers got goals from Ilkka Sinislao (1-1-2) and Mark Howe, with Dave Poulin (0-3-3) and Brian Propp (0-2-2) assisting on both goals. April 2, 1988 -- Philadelphia exploded for five second period goals en route to a 7-4 win in Quebec. Murray Craven (2-0-2) scored consecutive goals within 29 seconds to give the Flyers a 3-1 lead. Peter Zezel (1-2-3) had three second period points. Ilkka Sinisalo (2- 1-3) scored the last goals of the second and third periods. Michel Goulet scored his 47th and 48th goals.
July 25, 1988 -- Greg Smyth and a draft pick used to select John Tanner were sent to the Nordiques for Terry Carkner.
October 20, 1988 -- The Flyers recorded a 5-2 win in the Spectrum backed by Ron Hextall's 22 saves. Terry Carkner, acquired in the summer from Quebec, had three (1-2-3) points including his first goal as a member of the Flyers. Doug Sulliman, acquired off waivers 17 days prior, scored his first Flyers' goal to even the game 2-2 less than a minute after the Nordiques tied the game. Scott Mellanby scored the go-ahead goal in the late stages of the first period to give Philly a 3-2 lead. Ron Sutter (1-1-2) made it 4-2. Tim Kerr and Brian Propp also had two points.
November 19, 1988 -- The Nordiques re corded a 6-5 victory in Quebec. The Flyers led 1-0 but then the teams alternated goals in pairs. The Nords led 2-1 (two goals in 1:02), then the Flyers scored the next two (3-2 lead, two goals in 46 seconds), then the Nords scored twice (4-3 lead after one period, two goals in 1:15), then the Flyers followed with two goals (5-4 lead after two periods), then the Nords responded with two third period goals. Tim Kerr (2-1-3) and Pelle Eklund (2-0-2) scored twice for the Flyers. Walt Poddubny, in his lone season with Quebec. and Marc Fortier each scored two goals for the Nordiques who snapped the Flyers 9-game unbeaten streak in this series (6-0-3).
January 13, 1989 -- Murray Craven (1-4-5), Ron Sutter (2-2-4) and Mike Bullard (2 goals) led the Flyers' offensive attack in a 7-2 destruction in Philadelphia. Ron Hextall made 22 saves and had one assist. The Flyers third goal came with five seconds left in the first period and gave them a 3-0 lead.
October 12, 1989 -- The Flyers led 3-0 at the 8:34 mark and held that lead until Quebec scored twice in the early part of the third period but a Pelle Eklund goal halted the comeback and Philadelphia won 4-2 in the Spectrum. Rick Tocchet had a goal and an assist in the early flurry.
December 9, 1989 -- In one of the oddest endings to any Flyers' game, Joe Sakic (2-2-4) scored on a penalty shot with 23 seconds to play then Lucien Deblois netted the game-tying goal with seven seconds remaining in the third period of a 6-6 tie in Quebec. Sakic's goal came after goalie Ken Wregget attempted to dislodge the net during a scramble leading to the penalty shot. Then Wregget, off the ensuing faceoff, played the puck instead of allowing an obvious icing and misplayed the puck where Deblois awaited. Philly led 3-0 fourteen minutes into the game, then held leads of 3-2, 4-2, 4-3, 5-3, 5-4 and 6-4, the sixth goal coming with under five minutes to play in the third period. Murray Craven (2-1-3) led the Flyers.
1990-1994
March 17, 1990 -- Iiro Jarvi snapped a 3-3 third period tie and Joe Sakic added two insurance tallies in the final 1:11 of Quebec's 6-3 home win. Pelle Eklund and Tim Kerr had two points each for the Flyers. Sergei Mylnikov picked up the victory by making 28 saves and it was his only win in his 10-game (1-7-2) NHL career.
October 18, 1990 -- Normand Lacombe rescued the Flyers by scoring the only third period goal in a 5-4 home win. Philadelphia led 3-0 less than 10 minutes into the game, then Quebec switched goalies from Ron Tugnutt to John Tanner and the change gave the Nords an instant boost as they evened the score 3-3 heading into period two. The teams split second period goals setting up Lacombe's winner. Philly outshot Quebec 39-18, Tanner made 31 saves after replacing Tugnutt.
November 10, 1990 - - Philadelphia led 4-1 after 20 minutes and skated to a 5-2 victory in Quebec. The Flyers rocked goalie Scott Gordon for three goals on six shots before=2 0he was replaced midway in the opening period by Ron Tugnutt. Tim Kerr (1-2-3) had three points. Rick Tocchet and Gord Murphy had a goal and an assist. Philly limited the Nords to 18 shots.
January 17, 1991 -- Ron Hextall made 25 saves and Scott Mellanby scored a key goal in the Flyers' 5-1 victory in the Spectrum.
October 17, 1991 -- Andre Lomakin started a five-goal rally with two scores after Quebec had a 3-0 lead and the Flyers rebounded with a 5-3 home win. Ken Wregget was replaced after the Nords third goal and Dominic Roussel stopped all 12 shots as the Flyers came back. In the chippy game, the Flyers went 0-for-8 on the PP while Quebec was 2-for-10. Philly held a 15-3 shots advantage after one period and 29-16 for the game.
June 20, 1992 -- The much publicized deal20involving Eric Lindros was finalized. The Flyers sent Mike Ricci, Peter Forsberg, Steve Duchesne, Ron Hextall, Kerry Huffman, Chris Simon, a 1993 1st round pick used to select Jocelyn Thibeault, a 1994 first round pick used to select Nolan Baumgartner and $15 (US) million.
September 19, 1992 -- Eric Lindros played in his first NHL game, a preseason win over the Nordiques 4-3 in the Spectrum. Lindros scored a goal and assisted on the game-winner by Mark Recchi, both coming on 5-on-3's. Dan Kordic of Philly and Chris Simon of Quebec fought in a healthy scrap. The Flyers played the next night at Quebec but Lindros did not accompany the team in the preseason match.
October 13, 1992 -- Eric Lindros made his much anticipated Quebec debut but it was the Nordiques who prevailed, 6-3. Mike Ricci (2 goals) scored the GWG while on the PP with 3:57 to play and Mats Sundin (1-2-3) picked up three points in a four-goal third period. Ricci started the scoring 59 seconds into the first period after Lindros, on his firs t shift, drilled Bill Lindsay but that left Ricci open in the slot. Steve Kasper evened the score for the Flyers on a SHG about four minutes later. Philly was whistled for four minors in the first 6:55 of the game (Quebec had zero). The Nordiques led 2-1 after an early second period tally by Mike Hough. Lindros scored twice (PPG then a SHG) in the third period sandwiched by an Alexei Gusarov goal. At that point , it was 4-4 then Ricci, Steve Duchesne (with 2:17 to play) and Sundin (ENG) finished the scoring. Lindros had one possible goal overruled (deflected by his hand after he and goalie Ron Hextall jostled for the loose puck) and another shot that rang off the pipe. Duchesne was penalized for leveling Lindros along the boards to the delight of the home crowd which mocked Lindros throughout the game. Some wore diapers over their clothing, had pacifiers in the mouths and atop faux Stanley Cups and some pushed baby carriages through the halls. Many items were tossed onto the ice including baby bottles, eggs, batteries, coins and even a .22 caliber bullet. Lindros said "If I ever have a child, I am set for life with pacifiers." At one point, a trumpeter led fans in an obscene chant. Nords' President Marcel Aubut said "That's not bad in show business. Usually, the beginning of the season is quiet. As far as the business side, I'd like to have him here every night. Maybe we should have sent him in our own division." The Flyers w ere 13-2-4 in the last 19 regular season games played in this series prior to the defeat.
December 3, 1992 -- Claude Boivin (1-1-2) scored in OT to lift the Flyers to a 3-2 victory in Philadelphia. Mats Sundin tied the score in the final minute of regulation. Quebec's Ron Hextall made 31 saves in a loss. Mark Recchi's attempt to tie Bobby Clarke's team record of 18 straight games with a point was halted. Recchi had 14 goals and 23 assists in the 17 games.
January 28, 1993 -- Stephane Fiset made 22 saves and the Nordiques won 6-3 in Philly. Stephane Beauregard gave up three goals in the first period and was replaced for Dominic Roussel. Rob Pearson scored twice for Quebec. Kevin Dineen scored two PPGs for the Flyers.
March 27, 1993 -- The Nordiques' Ron Hextall made 34 saves in an 8-3 victory in Quebec. Valeri Kamensky (2-3-5), Mats Sundin (2-2-4), Steve Duchesne (1-2-3) and Andrei Kovalenko (2-0-2) led the offense. Eric Lindros made his second trip to Quebec and was booed throughout the contest. Tommy Soderstrom gave up six goals in two periods and then was replaced by Dominic Roussel.
October 26, 1993 -- Dominic Roussel made 30 saves in the Flyers' 4-2 victory at Quebec. Eric Lindros gave the Flyers a 4-0 lead with under two minutes to play in the second period. Stephane Fiset took the defeat.
November 4, 1993 -- Dominic Roussel made 27 saves, including 17-for-17 in the second period and Eric Lindros scored in his 11th consecutive game to lead the Flyers to a 4-1 home win. In the third period, with the Flyers up 2-1, Mikael Renberg scored on the PP to solidify the win. Quebec had two shots in the first period then 17 in the second period. Stephane Fiset took the loss.
December 16, 1993 -- Mark Recchi's second period goal snapped a 2-2 tie and the Flyers skated to a 3-2 home win. Garth Snow suffered the loss for Quebec.
January 25, 1994 -- Quebec scored three straight goals in the third period en route to a 6-4 win. Garry Galley gave the Flyers a 4-3 lead 33 seconds int o the final period but Reggi e Savage (one of his five NHL career goals) and Mike Ricci (1-2-3) scored the game-changing goals. The Nords outshot Philly 42-31. Stephane Fiset picked20up the win.

January 31, 1995 -- Joe Sakic (1-3-4) led Quebec to a 5-2 home win. The Flyers led 2-1 in the first period but Sakic started the rally with a SHG. Uwe Krupp scored twice for the Nordiques. The Flyers went 0-for-7 on the PP.
February 16, 1995 -- Stephane Fiset made 38 saves and Owen Nolan scored the only two first period goals and Quebec skated to a 4-2 win in Philadelphia. The Flyers outshot the Nords 18-3 in the third period. Dave Brown fought Chris Simon after Simon nailed Yanick Dupre from behind into the boards and was assessed a boarding minor.
February 23, 1995 -- In the final meeting between the Nordiques and Flyers, the teams played to a 6-6 tie in Quebec. The Nordiques rallied from a 6-3 deficit in the final 11 minutes. With the score 6-4, Adam Deadmarsh scored two consecutive goals twice in the last five minutes. Eric Lindros, in his final appearance at Quebec, registered a hat trick, scored in each period (3-1-4) and had four points -- a total matched by John LeClair (1-3-4). The Nords out shot the Flyers 46-34, including 20 shots in both the second and third periods. Ron Hextall made 40 saves for the Flyers.
July 12, 1995 -- Garth Snow was sent to Philadelphia by Colorado for Philadelphia's 3rd (later traded to Washington - Washington selected Shawn McNeil) and 6th (Kai Fischer) round choices in the 1996 Entry Draft.
January 4, 1996 -- Kjell Samuelsson scored his first goal of the season with 4:03 to play in the third and the Flyers tied the Avalanche in the first meeting since the relocation of the Quebec=2 0Nordiques to Colorado. The Avs led 2-0 until Eric Lindros potted the Flyers' first tally with four seconds remaining in the second period. The Avs outshot the Flyers 37-22 including a 34-10 advantage after two periods. Joe Sakic and Claude Lemieux combined for 16 shots. Garth Snow led the Flyers effort with 35 saves.
February 11, 1996 -- The Colorado Avalanche played in Philadelphia for the first time and prevailed 5-3 thanks to a four-goal third period. Pat Falloon (1-2-3) and Peter Forsberg (3-0-3) traded goals in a 1-1 tie after two periods. Then Eric Lindros and Forsberg swapped third period goals before Troy Murray and20Lindros exchanged scores to make the score 3-3. Claude Lemieux (1-2-3) recorded the eventual GWG with 1:53 remaining and then Forsberg completed his hat trick with an ENG. There were 16 PPs in the game (Colorado was 0-7 and the Flyers 2-9).
January 4, 1997 -- The Flyers dominated as the ga me progressed and the teams settled for a 4-4 tie in Colorado. The Avs led 2-0 less than two minutes into the affiar but Eric Lindros scored at 2:39 before Keith Jones retaliated with his own goal 9:11 into the=2 0opening period. The Avs increased their lead to 4-1 on a Mike Keane goal. Dale Hawerchuk scored to cut the Flyers' deficit to 4-2. In the third, the Flyers outshot the Avs 14-6 and Trent Klatt and Mikael Renberg recorded goals to send the game into OT. The Flyers outshot Colorado 4-1 in the extra frame. Patrick Roy made 40 saves. Lindros and Hawerchuk combined for 15 shots.
March 23, 1997 -- Ron Hextall recorded the shut out (19 saves) and Philadelphia received goals from Pat Falloon and Joel Otto in a 2-0 home victory. The Flyers outshot Colorado 29-19 including 12-3 in the third period.
November 13, 1997 -- Joe Sakic and Uwe Krupp scored in a span of 68 seconds midway through the second period in Colorado's 2-1 win in Philadelphia. Shjon Podein scored the Flyers only goal. All three goals were scored within a span of 2:27. Patrick Roy made 30 saves and beat the Flyers for the second time in his career (regular season only). There was a pair of separate fights in the first two minutes of the game.
February 7, 1998 -- Eric Lacroix's third period goal completed a three-goal rally in Colorado's 3-2 home win. The Flyers led 2-0 14:41 into the game as John LeClair (1-1-2) beat Adam Foote on a nifty move. Colorado scored a PPG with 23 seconds left in the first period and then evened the game on a SHG with 1:46 left in the middle period. The Flyers had two goals disallowed. Philly's Colin Forbes was tossed near the game's midway point when Chris Therien was whistled for a slashing minor. Patrick Roy's career record against the Flyers improved to 3-11-8.
November 12, 1998 -- Colorado traded Keith Jones to the Flyers for Shjon Podein.
February 14, 1999 -- John LeClair's third period goal gave the=2 0Flyers a 4-4 tie in Colorado. The Flyers led 3-1 midway through the game but the Avs responded with the next three goals. Valeri Kamensky had three (1-2-3) points for the Avalanche. Eric Lindros led Philly with two assists.
March 11, 1999 -- Patrick Roy made 33 saves and Chris Drury scored twice in Colorado's 5-3 win in Philadelphia. The Flyers failed to win for the ninth straight game as part of a skid that reached 12. Philly was 1-8-4 in the last 13 regular season meetings against this franchise. Eric Lindros led Philly with a goal and an assist. John LeClair's consecutive games streak ended at 317, with a hip injury suffered the prior game.
October 28, 1999 -- The Flyers won 5-4 in Philadelphia as Valeri Zelepukin scored an OT goal with 8.2 seconds to play to rescue the Flyers from a potential devastating defeat. Mark Greig gave the Flyers a 4-0 lead in the third period but, with less than 15 minutes remaining, Alex Tanguay scored twice in 3:13 followed by two goals from Milan Hejduk in 1:13 to knot the score. Colorado scored four goals on eigh t shots in a span of 8:09. Mark Recchi (1-2-3) and Daymond Langkow (0-3-3) led the Flyers while Adam Deadmarsh (0-3-3) led the Avalanche.
2000-2009:
March 12, 2000 -- Joe Sakic scored for the sixth straight game and recorded his 13th and 14th points in that time as Colorado won 3-1 at home. The Avalanche trailed 1-0 after one period. Colorado outshot Philadelphia 31-15, including 11-2 in the third period. Brian Boucher made 28 saves. Patrick Roy made 14 stops for the victory. Eric Lindros played his last regular season game for the Flyers as he was scratched from the following night's game in Phoenix with headaches eventually diagnosed as a concussion.
December 13, 2000 --- The Flyers and Avalanche played to a 3-3 tie in Colorado when a lengthy review confirmed that Simon Gagne's goal with eight seconds to play in the third period was legit. The question was whether Gagne batted the puck with his hand but that was denied. Daymond Langkow recorded three points (0-3-3) for the Flyers and set up the tying goal with a terrific feed. The Flyers took a 2-1 lead in the third period but the Avalanche tied it 26 seconds later then, later, had a four-minute PP courtesy of a Kevin Stevens high-stick and Milan Hedjuk capitalized to give Colorado a 3-2 lead.
December 29, 2001 -- The Flyers won 5-2 in Colorado led by Chris Therien's three assists and Roman Cechmanek's 31 saves. Five players scored for Philly including John LeClair who scored the go-ahead goal. With the score tied at 1-1, the Flyers netted three consecutive goals.
March 16, 2002 -- Patrick Roy made 36 saves and Ville Nieminen scored with 4:36 to play in Colorado's 2-1 win in Philadelphia. The Flyers outshot Colorado 37-18, including 18-5 in the third period when Nieminen scored the only goal.
December 27, 2002 -- Eric Desjardins scored on the only shot in OT and the Flyers recorded a 2-1 win in Colorado. Desjardins cut to the net and scored on a backhander in the slot off a perfect feed from Jeremy Roenick. The game was scoreless until Colorado scored early in the third period but Roenick netted a goal with 4:17 left in regulation. Roman Cechmanek had 34 saves, many spectacular. Milan Hedjuk had nine shots for the Avalanche. Simon Gagne left the game=2 0after suffering a cut about his right eye.
March 8, 2003 -- Colorado's Peter Forsberg (2-0-2) scored on the only shot in OT in a 2-1 win in Philadelphia. Each team scored PPGs in the second period, Forsberg gave Colorado a 1-0 but Kim Johnsson scored about two minutes later and 18 seconds into a PP. Patrick Roy and Roman Cechmanek each made 28 saves. Joe Sakic had nine shots.
December 27, 2003 -- Milan Hedjuk scored in OT to give Colorado a 3-2 home victory. Joe Sakic tied the scored with 1:17 left in regulation. Sami Kapanen gave Philly a 1-0 lead on a SHG midway in the second period, it was the Flyers first 1-0 lead covering the last 15 games -- nearing a dubious record of 17 set by the expansion Washington Capitals.
January 14, 2006 -- Alex Tanguay's goal completed a totally dominating OT for the Avs when he scored with 45.8 seconds to play in a 4-3 win in Philadelphia. Colorado, which outshot the Flyers 9-0 in the extra period, had a 3-1 lead with less than three minutes to play in regulation but goals by Mike Knuble (1-2-3) and Peter Forsberg (1-1-2) tied the game. Along with Simon Gagne (0-3-3), the trio accounted for eight of nine points in Forsberg's first game against his former team. The paid attendance of 19,953 set a Flyers' home record.
December 7, 2007 -- Milan Hedjuk's goal with under three seconds left in the second period gave the Avalanche an eventual 2-1 win at home. Danny Briere tied the=2 0score on a PPG with 2:05 to play in the second. Martin Biron made 30 saves while the Avs' Jose Theodore made 28.
October 16, 2008 -- The Flyers dropped a 5-2 decision at Colorado. Andrew Raycroft won his first start as a member of the Avalanche. Colorado led 2-0 and held a 17-3 shots advantage after 20 minutes. The Flyers scored on a penalty shot goal by Simon Gagne and a 5-on-3. The Avalanche outshot Philly 34-18.
